Turns out: "Portland police relied too heavily on tear gas, projectiles, hand-thrown rubber-ball explosives and other distraction devices that harmed peaceful people in the crowd during 2020′s social justice protests and riots, outside examiners found." https://www.oregonlive.com/news/2023/08/portland-protests-police-relied-too-much-on-tear-gas-rubber-ball-grenades-outside-review-finds.html?utm_campaign=theoregonian_sf&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter

“Telecommunications in multiple NWT communities are severely disrupted due to wildfire activity in the southern NWT. ..."

THIS is why we need to keep pushing for better ham radio emergency communications (equipment, antenna, radio rooms, expense reimbursement, education) within the PREOC centers in every area. Some scary photos coming out of Hay River tonight.

David McCormick is gearing up for a Senate run in Pennsylvania. But he lives in Connecticut. Tommy Tuberville lives in Florida but he represents Alabama as senator. Citizens didn't used to put up w/ this #chicanery but now they do.

@MoiraEve

Dr. Oz didn't live in Pennsylvania. He's back to being a pill shill.

Josh Hawley doesn't live in Missouri.

Nestle makes enormous profits each year and faces no legal accountability for stealing water. Now coffee empire Starbucks has struck a multibillion dollar deal with Nestle. We ask you to join the movement to #BoycottStarbucks, #BoycottNestle, and boycott all of their products. Nestle profits from water theft, habitat destruction, child slavery, & plastic pollution – don't support them!

Take and share the pledge.

Reports now that the mother of Eric Meyer, who owns the paper, has died. Also that the #probablecause #affidavit for the #warrant was never filed.

Dated a year ago, and people are hauling water.

Went out tonight and saw more satellites than Perseids. Thanks *so* much, Elon.

When the story of the Iran-Contra affair broke in November 1986, government officials continued to break the law, shredding documents that Congress had subpoenaed. After fourteen administration officials were indicted and eleven convicted, the next president, George H. W. Bush, who had been Reagan’s vice president, pardoned them on the advice of his attorney general William Barr. (Yes, that William Barr.)

An observation on how #Mastodon is growing 👀

Over the past month, multiple journalists from top outlets have contacted me related to content I’ve shared.

While this was not uncommon on #Twitter when I was active there, it’s relatively new for me in the #fediverse. I suspect this suggests professional news outlets are becoming more comfortable here & posts have increasing impact. Good.

I have no idea why I felt the need to put this out here but here it is.

I'm telling people to buy up whatever grain based food you want to have for IDK six months. I figure in about six months is when it really hits hard.
