Scam Alert!

If you receive an email or response on Mastodon like the following, DO NOT click the link. It is a scam fishing for login details at the very least.

"Mastodon has detected botting malware on your PC that is congesting the Mastodon network. All affected accounts will be suspended within 24 hours unless removed. _https://REDACTEDLINK"

For a long time, when I'd read a comic with Lex Luthor in it, and he'd be... I dunno, conspiring with a guy who's super power is that he is mediocre at riddles, and maybe Solomon Grundy or someone like that, in order to launch their army of poison turtles into Metropolis, I'd scoff and say, "it's unrealistic that the world's richest man would waste his time and money on something that's only going to showcase to the world how incompetent he is."

I owe DC comics an apology.

Not sure if I should Follow a hashtag or pin it to a column. Any ideas?

After @ChadLoder tweeted about a massive data breach on #Twitter this evening #ElonMusk suspended him on that platform. I took these screenshots just now from the web as I am currently suspended from Twitter for an alleged violation but I'm trying to get the word out. This is a NEW breach. Elon looks like he may be in big dodo! #FTC #DataBreach #ChadLoder #TwitterDataBreach

P.S. "Bans on assault weapons and high capacity magazines have an approval rating of over 60 percent in the US, according to Pew..."

Looks like the NIH has set up a new website so that people in the US can finally report home test results: https://makemytestcount.org/

Hopefully these results will be made public soon, and are factored into policymaking, as current data may be undercounting by as much as 20x.

Looks like Jordan Peterson has addressed a packed room of Liberal/National MPs and One Nation MPs .

Jordan Peterson is a rampant and well documented transphobe.

Apparently the invitations were sent out by Matt Canavan. Scott Morrison and Andrew Hastie sat in the front row and Jacinta Price also attended.

We have to make sure transphobia does not get a foothold in Australia.

Look whatever happens, however long we have on this rock, in this form — I’m glad I’m spending this time here with you.
What an absolute wonder this world is. 🤗 🌍

#Writers of Mastodon! How do you usually start your stories? If none of the below, what's your starting point?

Gorgeous sunset tonight.

I don’t want to hear Christmas music until the turkey carcass is out on the porch with the jack-o-lanterns.

The Boston Public Library (USA) has digitised its collection of legacy vinyl (crackle and hiss and all) at the Internet Archive, and it's the absolute epitome of a 50s–70s library record collection.

Holy shit!

Big rumblings in the expansion of the #Fediverse have been happening recently.

#Tumblr has already promised to implement #ActivityPub (the protocol Mastodon uses), which will mean you can follow Tumblr accounts from here and vice versa. And today we a learning that #Flickr is also considering it!

This will be a massive expansion bringing, which obviously carries some uncertainties, but I, for one, welcome our new federation partners.

This is the way the internet is supposed to work.

One thing that’s a bit of a hassle with Mastodon is that you can’t immediately follow people on other instances.

You have to copy the username and search for it on the server that has your account.

To make this easier, I’ve created a little bookmarklet. Press it, and you’ll be taken to the same account as viewed from the masto host you are on.

(Change the value of `MY_MASTO_HOST` in the code to your mastodon host –not URL– and you’re good to go)

Twitter Allows Russian Officials to Share Antisemitic Cartoon of Zelenskyy

#elonmusk #Twitter permitted a #Russian Embassy account to post a cartoon that echoed #Nazi #propaganda in its depiction of Ukraine’s Jewish president, Volodymyr #Zelensky

I'm hoping to do a series of articles / threads about how the PDP-12 works, by diving into its instruction set and other low-level behaviors. Here's the first one of these threads! 🧵 #pdp12 #umdpdp12 #RetroComputing #VintageComputing

[I posted this thread on The Other Site a couple months ago, but since I'm planning to follow it up soon (and because I have new friends here), I'm reposting it.]
