There is a process to have mayoral elections, Patrick Braxton found the paperwork despite obstruction from the city council. The existing mayor Haywood “Woody” Stokes III ignored him and didn't bother to run so Braxton won by default managing to get recognized by the county. Then, shortly after, the white town council met secretly and reappointed (??) Haywood “Woody” Stokes III as Mayor. It's an old typical situation. Here's the best article I found:

I buy the take that a goal of buying Twitter was to stop progressive movements that were organizing there.

It is possible to voice legitimate policy complaints without resorting to equating Biden to Trump, which is horrifically wrong and extremely hurtful.

But one thing I want to convey is how exhausted our team is. We spend all day traveling by car or train. We are out in the heat reporting from the field.

We work 14-18 hours a day. All of us live in our office in Kyiv.

We are doing everything we can to bring better journalism to you folks and every small task takes up time we could be sleeping or reporting or just not working!
