@tightnessofcars @Hyolobrika @icedquinn @meowski @p It has to be easily exchangeable into physical value in order to be a medium of exchange, otherwise it is a dead thing like leaving cash in a safe, and that limits its growth potential. It can only grown indefinitely if it can somehow be used in the creation of new economic value.

I need to be able to exchange it for goods and services; I can. I do, in fact. I've paid people with it for services rendered, I've bought things with it, I pay some of my server bills with it. I don't know what you're getting at.

@p @Hyolobrika @icedquinn @meowski @tightnessofcars You're cherry picking examples. Do you pay for fuel, groceries and rent with it? Not without first exchanging it at a central exchange of some kind.

> You're cherry picking examples.
I'm giving some examples of actual utility that I have put these things to. Arcade tokens are only useful in an arcade, but calling them useless is stupid if you're at an arcade. Dollars are useless in most countries, but I'm in the US. Still, there are things that are illegal for me to exchange for dollars, like drugs or recreational nukes or hookers or kidneys.
> Do you pay for fuel, groceries and rent with it?
Five years ago I could not pay for anything with it; the list of things I can use the stuff for has been steadily growing. Apparently if I wanted a Tesla, I could buy a Tesla with it later.
I don't know what point you're trying to make.

@p @Hyolobrika @icedquinn @meowski @tightnessofcars My original point, that BTC will come down eventually. I would add that it could come down to zero if something superior in every way comes along - and given sufficient time, that is inevitable.
@RobertCardwell @icedquinn @Hyolobrika @meowski @tightnessofcars @p I can think of a few reasons to not back bitcoin but "I'm edgier than you" is hands down the most entertaining
@skells @icedquinn @Hyolobrika @meowski @tightnessofcars @p Is that addressed to me? I don't consider myself particularly edgy when it comes to financial matters. I'm just not all in with the enthusiasm about Bitcoin, and have no interest in its speculative potential. I would only use it as a pass-through, for example to get money safely out of the country.
