So after 15 years it appears the Value 4 Value system has a single point of failure.
Forgive me for harping on about it, but the newletter was astonishing. Hasnt Adam been warning everyone since woke began to avoid this very situation i.e AWS, You Tube etc etc
Its irony, as much as I am sympathetic to the situation, one must surely practice what you preach.
John and Adam don't have control over how people donate, with V4V you've got to make it easy for people to do so or they simply won't
PayPal have been de-platforming various people for some time now, so it's a little disingenuous of John to paper over "momentary" decisions by higher ups but it's hard to find fault with the email itself
copy is copy, after all
I disagree, calling producers virtue signallers for engaging in a practice that No Agenda has promoted is egregious. If they didnt use it, Paypal would be on Adams black list for sure
@Sneaky @adam @Johncdvorak it's hypocritical, I agree, but I don't see how you get around the situation
if a producer takes issue the decent thing would have been to switch to another form of donation - but as being a producer is entirely voluntary what options do you have but to turn the screws a little if people don't bother
@Sneaky @adam @Johncdvorak "customers"? only 3% of listeners donate, mainly because John pushes
if the people who donate had principles of the privacy they wouldn't use PayPal full stop, the issue is they cancelled their donations on a headline and hurt the show without thinking about the consequences
if it was Spotify or whatever, who cares, they just above ads down your throat if you stop paying, V4V doesn't have that luxury
I am sympathetic, i really am and would miss them if they stopped.
But that newsletter was pathetic.
Paypal : "We have had meetings at the highest level where fucking you has been at the top of the agenda"
John : " Their customer service is great"
@Sneaky @adam @Johncdvorak i think you're looking at it the wrong way round
if, today, John and Adam say "no more PayPal; only bitcoin, cash or cheque will be accepted" then they could, at guess, drop a third to a half of all their payments
I was 100% with you at first but the more I think about it, the more petulant it seems to kick off about a stern email for more donations/consideration from a product which is essentially distributed for free
@Sneaky @adam @Johncdvorak
sorry @ringo didn't mean to knock you out there
