I wish people were less horny so they'd make more surrealist art with stable diffusion instead of the same old lizard brain triggers

@sim @Arkana @7 @clayvaulin @kakkerel @laurel @MK2boogaloo @hrast @Intramuros_ @tarperfume @GoodPerson @Leyonhjelm yeah Montaigne is cool, not read much of him but what i have was good

@zonz that clip of the Germans sniggering at Trump will go down in history

wow this pfizer eu meeting is wild, these guys are pissed

can't speak for the EU but it seems Europe is coming to it's senses, particularly on the fringes

@MK2boogaloo @Arkana @7 @clayvaulin @kakkerel @laurel @hrast @Intramuros_ @tarperfume @GoodPerson @sim @Leyonhjelm Epictitus' Fragments is a short book of aphorisms but it's a little abustruse and 'zen', might not encourage great discussions

Plato's stuff is pretty short, symposium etc. but it's not to my taste tbh

Plutarch does very accessible and enjoyable biographies of great Greek/Hellenic/Roman figures, although it might be a bit close to Thucydides, people might like a change

Our friends @GridlessCompute doing some incredibly cool work monetizing micro-hydro plants in Kenya.

They build these small hydro plants @ ~100KW which is much much more than the village needs.

Someone is trying to DDoS one of the systems that shares a node with my Frantech boxes.

When I checked, they were hammering that machine's IRC service indirectly by spoofing packets. They'd have to be inside the network to do that, a router isn't going to let that through.

The thing that tipped me off was my bandwidth was half-eaten sending packets from ports 22/80/443 to that machine's port 6667. Normal traffic, when you make an outbound connection, it's usually through a randomly assigned port, usually numbered 32768-65535, so it's kinda odd that the same port would be making all those outbound requests, you don't do that. So my box was sending ACK/SYN packets in response, and getting RSTs because the machine we were sending the ACK/SYNs to didn't remember sending a SYN. And they were apparently running an IRC service on there. This is a pretty interesting way to do a DDoS because it's indirect (you can't block the source of the attack, you are getting traffic from everywhere).

I guess they've graduated to something like LOIC because these two VMs, which share a host with that one, are periodically inaccessible, there are these big floods.

@DK_Dharmaraj @Teuton_Cornelius Putin made the comment that Kiev's diplomacy dropped off a cliff once Russian forces withdrew from the city. Make of that what you will.

@sim somewhat dubious historical accuracy but the screen above is from BBCs Rome which is very enjoyable, paints the various strata of Roman society and their interaction very nicely and the relationship between Caesar and Brutus is especially well done

@sim wooed Caesar and Marc Anthony, prototype of feminine power I'd say, an extremely shrewd political operator

also various sources suggest she wasn't particularly attractive, just incredibly charming and intelligent
