@skells @zpartacoos Sure you gotta teach and preach as well, but the industry needs to be established first, then a school. Today's schools are based on today's industry. So mostly just preach.
What I see is that market is huge, but for people who can tap into it finding a job in one corporation or the other is easier than starting a business. Less responsibility, no risk, don't have to deal with clients directly. Some do though and succeed to various degree. It's not so hopeless, the industry overall is still very young. Look some people who started it are still alive, those bastards!

@skells @zpartacoos so go convince one neighbor to run a free OS. If it works convince another one. If it works really well maybe make a business out of it (consultation, installation, warranty), and drop your aspiration for the holy grail that will solve the problem for everyone across the globe. The holy grail is local independent experts serving the general public directly (like yer mechanics or plumbers) and you can only be one of them.
Things looking better in the UK. Gotta be said this wouldn't be the case without a high vaccine uptake so there's no doubt that those who took the vaccine have taken a risk that has paid off in the short term.
Whether this risk was necessary, and whether those who took the vaccine were truly informed about the risks is a different question.
At a certain point you've got to take a win and, fingers crossed, we've got one.
What this has shown us about how our societies communicate and make decisions has been sobering though. We don't want to fight the last war and looking at the US that war is still being fought.
We need a full spectrum campaign for more transparency and decentralisation in our institutions, because the next gray swan will come and we're not even free of this one quite yet.
Primarily this means securing our means of exchange (BTC) and communication (???) alongside more traditional pushes for more representative government.
As long as we're disempowered we'll spend our time arguing the toss about conspiracy theories rather than taking action to push things forward.
