It’s been about a year and a half since I switched back to being a manager after a stint as an individual contributor.
It’s taken almost that long to fully switch my mindset back to the focus being 100% on supporting and enabling others to do the work versus doing the work myself except for rare exceptions.
Both the manager and the team are better for it once this mindset is fully dialed in.

@carnage4life would you still do this kind of rotation once in a while? E. g. did you learn /relearn something useful for your current management position by working as an IC (I assume not for the first time)?
