Public Service Announcement

Today it's only 15 years left until the end of the (signed) 32bit UNIX Epoch. It is likely that the first devices that will be in active use in 2038 are beginning development now.

The UNIX ecosystem is surely ready for larger than 32bit timestamps?

evil, deep laughter

I had some unrelated tests fail in our pipeline. Apparently we had some tests that set a date as +15 years. Since we also store that as an signed integer in the DB, it failed because of the 2038 bug. 🎉

Admittedly, I know there is still a lot of action on Twitter. I know I could get the word out about new podcast episodes and my new job in a much more extensive way, but I can't go back to Twitter. I can't support a company that doesn't care about misinformation, people's health and well being, and that just doesn't support a descent vision of society. I believe in people, community, and in helping people.

Laughing at the time I rented a basic red car, & after meeting friends at a restaurant, I left & tried to get into a red $300K sports car. The owner was furious when my friends & I told him we hadn’t noticed the difference between the two cars parked near each other.😂

When the horses get silly, you get pictures like this.😂

Pigeons

A couple pigeons flying very close together in black and white. I have a color version but after all of the cropping to just get these two, I think the black and white version looks best.

Ever since I first heard the word #darshan explained—many years ago—I have recognized it at moments like when this happened. It is called, in English, taking darshan.
I feel it a lot while out photographing. Maybe I should try looking for it more often.

As the new Governor of Arkansas, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, goes after the Critical Race Theory indoctrination bogeyman this week, I want to be completely transparent and reveal that my students will be learning CRT over the next two days in my AP/IB Biology course.
