We drove some 600 meters from our house and prepared to release them. They weren't fucking any more. I imagine they were pretty stressed.

What do you do, when you catch in your , and put them in a bucket? Drive them somewhere safe. I never imagined I'd be driving on a rural road with bucket of vipers. .

Fucking vipers in our garden. Not that I have anything against vipers. Like all other living creatures, they want to live. They were just fucking in our garden, to make more vipers.

Our dogs, , have a complicated history with vipers. One of them was once bitten by a very small viper, but survived. Today the mother, Moro, made sure none of the puppies (they're almost five years old now, but we still call them puppies) came close to the vipers.

In the end, two vipers ended up, unharmed, in a bucket, and another one, who didn't participate in fucking, found a good hiding place, probably also in our garden.

Seeing as how there is microcode inside current CPUs which determines how it works (think programmable gate arrays) then it really depends on 'how far down' you want to be going.

I'm glad to see reporting looking into the data theft behind "AI". But it's super frustrating to be misquoted like this. I was not talking about "current laws", nor about "AIs". Collections of linear algebra are not the kind of things that can have accountability, period.

I've sent email to @mimsical asking for a correction, but haven't heard back. (It is a Saturday, but also the piece went live today.) Hopefully he can get the WSJ to correct the article.

Has anyone else noticed that, like, in the last 3 years, a google search is almost as useful as asking the same question of your cat? Talk about enshittification, sheesh.

Why does every statement from the UK's government have to include the words "world-leading"? Anyway, the world-leading online safety bill will lead the UK to shut down the internet at this rate. Which might be quite a good thing all round. theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/a

I try to pick my battles but here’s a hill I will die on:

Remove all instances of the words “just” and “simply” from your technical documentation. These are marketing terms used to sell a product, promising ease of use.

Someone reading your technical documentation needs help: implying what they’re trying to do is “simple” will only frustrate them. Wrong audience.

@HCBunny Suggestion: purchase the chain and then the saw each separately.

I’m amazed that I always get unfollowed when I make a sex joke here. On twitter, I’d lose them if I didn’t make lewd jokes.

Made the pilgrimage today.
If you know anything about the history of water, you'll know what I mean!
If not, there's a chapter in my new book, The Three Ages of Water, that describes how important this location is.

I caught this fly in my window. I didn't recognize it, so I looked it up.

It's a window fly.
