Mathematics academics (or people with a PhD in a maths-y subject), I have just been told about a great toy: Mathematics Genealogy. You can type in any academic's name and find who their PhD supervisor was and who they supervised. It goes all the way back to Newton (and back even before that). Someone I met today can trace their supervisor chain all the way back to Newton himself...

Wchodzę do swojej klatki przed chwilą, i zastaję dziewczynkę, na oko 10-11 lat, skuloną na bosaka pod drzwiami sąsiadów. Pytam co się stało. „Mama mnie z domu wyrzuciła.” Pytam dlaczego. „Bo nie chciałam jej książki dać.”

Pukam do drzwi sąsiadów, grzecznie się przedstawiam, że ja z drzwi obok. Otworzył mi łysy pan, nieco przy tuszy, i mowię, że zastałem córkę pod drzwiami płaczącą. Na co pan wzywa z głębi mieszkania mamę (wychodzi na to, że to nie ojciec biologiczny).

Don’t tick the “next day delivery” box without really needing it. Urgent delivery means that delivery vehicles go out only partly full and travel further to get to delivery sites that are more spaced out.
