I opened the first IPCC report, released in 1990, and copied their scenario graphs for CO2 and CH4 emissions.

I marked the latest data with a red dot. Methane emissions in 2022 were 580 Mt and carbon dioxide emissions in 2023 were 40.7 GtCO2 (= 11.09 GtC).

Whatever you think about the IPCC you must admit their business-as-usual calculations were pretty robust.

Forget all the other good reasons to have an ad blocker, I legally need to. I don’t have a tv licence, if I go to the Sky News website it immediately starts auto playing a live stream I’m legally not allowed to watch.

Therefore it is a legal requirement for me to have an ad blocker.

So tonight I only got around 30 minutes of usable photos, looks like the cable connecting the AstroLink with the mount froze, literally froze, and was dropping connection, and so I would lose guiding every few exposures. Now I need to buy a high quality USB-A -> USB-C cable.

#Tobacco and #alcohol are similarly harmful (middling) in comparison to other drugs, and similarly habit-forming (highly). Yet Western society treats them really differently. In recent decades we've managed to change attitudes to tobacco and cut down use, both quite dramatically, without banning the sale of tobacco. But there is no political will to do likewise with alcohol, even though unlike tobacco it is a strongly contributing factor to violent crime and homelessness.

I decided to run an experiment this year that I’m excited about! My goal is to test the #libraryeconomy (it’s the future) in practice. I set up a simple spreadsheet for myself and my friends (and hopefully, friends of friends) to create a “things library”. Whatever’s there, we can borrow from each other, free of charge. Stuff such as instruments or tools, but also things that take up space and are not used often, such as an extra duvet for guests, or hiking gear. #solarpunk #sustainability
