Me, altering a pattern to add full lining:
"Haha! Yesss! 😼"

Also me, having to stitch curved facing / lining seam:
"Oh. Oh no. 😥"

(This post is sponsored by Peppermint Albion Blouse and not enough bias tape in my stash.)

(It worked out fine though)

If you ever feel unattractive, just remember that you look like your ancestors and all of them got laid.

I'm chaperoning a school field trip to the farm, and the kindly beekeeper just spent twenty minutes explaining the life and life cycle and structure and products of the hive. And then at the end he asked, "So what's something we just learned?" and 19 fourth-graders hollered in unison, "BEEEEEEES!"

The presenter tells them there's a species of Sphinx moth in Africa with a foot-long proboscis. "Can you imagine having a tongue three or four times longer than your body?" she asks, and 19 fourth-graders stick their tongues out speculatively.

Always a good sign when your Point3 class has "distFrom", "distFrom2", "length","length2", "normalize", and "fastNormalize" methods.

Now I’m redundant I might look for a job

Just SVG, HTML, CSS – no programming

Figma and XD, but not making anything that actually works

Colour themes and palettes and typography type scales, everything WCAG

Accessibility – loads of ARIA, far too much, put it where it’s not needed

On the other hand I might just not have anything to do with tech, as it sucks

English has two different terms for words that come into English from other languages. A 'calque' is translated from the source language. (E.g., flea market, beer garden, paper tiger) A 'loanword' is ported in its original form. (E.g., cafe, bazaar, kindergarten) Perhaps ironically, the word 'calque' is a loanword, while 'loanword' is a calque (from Ger. 'lehnwort').

No one ever asks "how will roads pay for themselves or make a profit". But they do it with the post office and public transit. It's a brilliant messaging strategy to make people forget that their gas guzzling monopoly loses money paid for by taxes, but the other services are held to another standard entirely

why defederation

Some folks think that defederation is a bad thing. OK.

Here's a little experiment you can try at home.

1) Stop using GMail, Hey, or whatever email service you're currently using.
2) Set up your own mail server (there's instructions on the internet).
3) When the instructions say to use a Remote Black List just ignore them.
4) When the instructions say to validate domains, ignore those too.
5) When the instructions say to set up SPF, DKIM, and DMARC just let those slide.
6) Try to send / receive email
7) Also try to read your inbox. For added benefit turn on all notifications for received mail.

Voila. Now you have an unfettered email experience.

And this, class, is why defederation is useful.

Please send your comments to the overworked TA in the back of the room.

The real takeaway from the #Twitter bug restoring deleted tweets should be in recognizing that those tweets were never actually deleted

Why do I only post negative things about religion? Because I work with a demographic that bears the scars of religious #indoctrination. #ReligiousTrauma Syndrome refers to losses one suffers as part of a rigid, #authoritarian religious group - and the ADDITIONAL losses suffered upon #losingfaith & having ties severed from the group. Losses: #Identity, community, support, friendships, family, worldview, purpose, etc. Significant multiple #losses largely not recognized by outsiders. #exchristian

From 2021, Franklin and Smeagol, two rescue pitties who were left to die on rural GA roads...Both had tough medical conditions.
Top step: Franklin has fused elbows, a genetic condition from in breeding. Found at 4 months old, starving on a side road. Inoperable, but he is in NO pain and gets around fine, if now slowly.
Smeagol was found starving on a dirt road, dragging his back legs. He was about 5 months old. He looked like a very small Chihuahua. Both back kneecaps were ruined, and surgery saved his legs.

They were our fosters. Then they were our foster fails. They are both a bit over 4 years old now.

' As one former Arches park ranger told me, “The basic mantra the park service tries to instill is the old refrain, ‘The more people who see it, the more people will want to protect it.’ An alternate view is that the more people who see it, the more people buy up the housing for second homes and make the workforce homeless. The more people who see it, the more bighorn sheep get hit by cars....” '

My spouse claims (statistically correctly) that not everyone has seen this meme, and given how often I repeat it to myself (out of order, admittedly), I am here to help. This is from a veterinary training guide.
