Question for the hive-mind:

What do you call growing a garden under a fully mature forest canopy?

It's not really a #forestgarden as the word is generally used today. Those seem to be intentionally planted bottom up.

It's a form of #permaculture, but so are so many other things, and the word has been so abused I'd rather stay away.

#agroforestry seems to have been taken over by 'small patch farming with trees nearby'.

There has to be a better word for this:

The Fediverse is literaly the coolest thing I have ever discovered. So much freedom, diversity, kindness, wholesomeness, funny jokes without the offensive edginess (you can be funny without being offensive?! impossible!) supporting niche communities and independent developers and being concerned about internet safety... it's so hard to list all of them.

From these past few weeks or a month that I've been here, I've never felt so alive and welcomed in an internet community. This place gave me hope that the internet can still be a friendly and safe (kinda?) place to interact and be yourself without society being overly judgmental.

🔵 24 maja zakaz aborcji wprowadzony przez PiS doprowadził do śmierci Doroty w Podhalańskim Szpitalu Specjalistycznym im. Jana Pawła II w Nowym Targu. Szpital od lat nie przeprowadza aborcji. Chwali się relikwiami Karola Wojtyły - katolickiego ideologa znanego z atakowania kobiet, osób LGBT+, fotografowania się z dyktatorami, ochrony pedofilów.

🤬 Placówką kieruje Marek Wierzba członek partii Suwerenna Polska Zbigniewa Ziobry. Czy Marek Wierzba został już zwolniony dyscyplinarnie z pracy? Nie. Czy jest wciąż członkiem partii Zera? Jest.

📣 14 czerwca w Warszawie protestowałem przeciwko barbarzyńskiemu prawu.

🤡 Po protestach w całej Polsce zabrał głos prezes PiS Jarosław Kaczyński mówiąc o śmierci Doroty nazywając ją “sprawą wymyśloną przez propagandę” i “częścią urojonej rzeczywistości”.

🤡 Następnie posłanka PiS Ewa Szymańska stwierdziła, że „ludzie w różnych sprawach protestują”. Odpowiadając dziennikarzowi na pytanie o śmierć Doroty śmiała się mówiąc “Pan tak mówi, jakby tych kobiet umierały codziennie dziesiątki, setki tysięcy”. Na koniec dodała “A gdzie są faceci, czemu nie protestują? Kobiety z powietrza nie zachodzą w ciążę”.

🤡 Wczoraj na pytanie o prawo aborcyjne prezydent Andrzej Duda z uśmiechem odpowiedział “A co to ma wspólnego z pucharem Tymbarku? Ja jestem na pucharze Tymbarku i rozumiem, że państwo oczekujecie rozmowy ze mną na temat pucharu Tymbarku”.

It is stunning to think of all the people who were paid money to design & build this office, all to have the company kicked out of the space without anyone ever even using it.

There have been so few people to ever step foot in that building that I would imagine everything is still in absolutely pristine condition, but branded with Twitter design that now has to be ripped out by a landlord who constructed the building just for Twitter, and never collected a dime.

Last year, I shared that my wife Ellen had been diagnosed with glioblastoma, a rare and incurable form of brain cancer. It's been a while since I've updated on her condition. Unfortunately, her cancer has progressed significantly in the past couple of months. We recently decided to forgo further treatment and pursue hospice care as she enters her final weeks.

As you might imagine, I'm working a lot less right now as I care for her, support our 4-year-old son, and spend time with the many visitors we've been thankful to have.

I'm still around, but I'm checking here and posting less frequently. Please forgive me if my responses to DMs and emails are slower than normal. That said, folks are making sure the wheels at RTF and AND are still turning 👍
