In case you’re currently looking for a job, a reminder:

Those “requirements” that companies put in their postings - those are just a wishlist.

If the job looks like it fits you, and you meet maybe 50% of the requirements, go for it.

“You should hire me, because… “ - if you can complete this sentence, the role is worth applying for.

If you don’t like what Google is doing, spend a few moments seeing if some non-Google alternatives work for you:

Android —> GrapheneOS, /e/, Droidian, and more
Chrome —> Firefox, Safari, (Lynx :))
Docs —> cryptpad, Nextcloud docs, Collabora online
Drive —> Nextcloud
Gmail —> protonmail, mail from someone like Mythic Beasts
Search —> DuckDuckGo, StartPage

You don’t have to change everything at once, or commit to anything immediately. But it is Google, so you may be forced to move at some point!

Look at what the Teamsters got for UPS workers. $21/hr for part time. The end of mandatory OT on days off. A/C in their trucks. Unions WORK. Don't let anyone tell you differently.

Every single thing conservatives are mad about can fit into three categories:

1) things they made up entirely
2) things caused by conservatism
3) things that are none of their goddamn business

It's too much.🧺

"Captain America", vol. 1, nr 143, Marvel Comics.

"Power to the People", scen. Gary Friedrich, rys. John Romita.

Loblaw reports rise in profit and revenue as Canadians continue to struggle with food prices

>The parent company of Loblaws and Shoppers Drug Mart said it will be adding 25 No Frills stores to the network this year as customers focus on value.

No, there's a difference between "value" and "price". Customers are focusing on the fact that they can't afford food, while owners and executives rake in billions in profit.

Long shot, but I'm out of ideas.

Any one have any ideas on what to do with a Fire HD 10 tablet (2021) that won't turn on?

Family member found it in drawer, so I suspected a simple case of a battery needing charging, but it's not working.

I've tried:
- Leaving it on USB change for twelve hours.
- Leaving it on wireless charge for twelve hours.
- Holding down power button.
- Holding down power button and various combinations of the volume buttons.

For USB, I am using stock charger and cable, and can verify they work as my phone charges using them.

Furthermore, I used an energy monitoring plug and can see the tablet is drawing around 3.58W, and it drops to 0.00W when unplugged.

The tablet is in excellent condition, looks brand new. Family member said they just left it in a drawer and forgot about it, insists it worked perfectly fine before, and I do believe them.

So I'm quite baffled. Do I just keep charging it and hope it suddenly wakes up? Are there other ideas I could try? I really hope it isn't dead 🙁

Thanks for any help any one can give.

It is indeed a magical money tree, it magically appears when the government wants to spend & magically disappears when the people want something spent.

I also should have mentioned that I actually critiqued Barbie so hard that I ended up consulting for Mattel. https://medium.com/csforall-stories/tech-barbies-backstory-how-she-went-from-math-is-hard-to-robotics-engineer-63d22437df5d

Do y’all remember Computer Engineer Barbie, the world’s worst computer engineer? Starring in the world’s most sexist children’s book? With all the discussion about Barbie, I realized it’s been almost a decade since that controversy blew up and I went viral for this feminist remix. (“Now with less sexism!”) https://caseyfiesler.com/2014/11/18/barbie-remixed-i-really-can-be-a-computer-engineer/

Asking a woman if she is “on her period” won’t help you but treating her like she is “on her period” might save your life.

* Isopods have 7 pairs of legs all pretty much the same length.

* 74** logic gates have ... 7 pairs of legs all the same length!

Coincidence? I think not!

Clearly, each isopod contains 4 logic gates. This Armadillidium vulgare has 4 AND gates. Don't forget to connect power & ground legs & use pull-down resistors on inputs.

(best practice is to simply ask the rollie to position itself in your circuit.)

Like most natural systems. they use micro-voltages, don't use standard 5V power sources.
