I’m in Brussels for a week on holiday (staying around Saint Gilles) and my MacBook charger just died. So, I’m looking for a 60W USB-C charger to replace it. I’m not bothered about it being an Apple charger.

In Berlin there is almost nowhere open on a Sunday - is it the same for da Brux? All the Mediamarkt stores seem to be closed 😅

The evidence that cars don’t work as primary mass transport in cities is everywhere: traffic jams, air pollution, accident rates, the shocking fraction of city space taken up by parking spaces, safety barriers/bollards etc. This 100 year experiment should be declared over, and we should put proper effort into the systems that HAVE been shown to work and scale: walking, cycling, e-cargo bikes, cheap/accessible/reliable public transport. This “argument” about LTNs is just lazy delay. #LTN #cities

The engineers who designed the #Voyager probes half a century ago even thought of the possibility that a wrong sequence of commands may point the antenna dish away from earth.

And they implemented a self-adjusting mechanism that a few times a year scans the positions of a few known stars to infer the position of the earth, and point back the antenna in the right direction.

50 years later, these wonderful machines are still working, tens of billions of km away from earth, and even a wrong sequence of commands won't put them out of use.

The more I understand how they were designed, the more I feel like an early Medieval engineer looking at the Pantheon or other marvels or Roman architecture. Some amazing skills, knowledge and attention to details have been lost from that generation to ours.

Ogólnie jeśli ktoś by potrzebował jakiejś usługi od Fundacji to dawajcie znać... to jest główne nasze zdanie by wspierać innych... tak np. ostatnio zrobiliśmy cały cluster dla kbin.social oraz system wysylki maili rejestracyjnych :)

My #solar #powered website has been online for 16 weeks today. Pretty pleased with that given the longest run I had during testing last year was about 3 weeks.

It will potentially go offline in the coming week as the forecast isn't looking great ☔️ and I won't be able to place the panel in its optimum position. This will be a good test of the battery 🔋.

Za każdym razem, gdy używam automatycznej (bezosobowej) kasy w sklepie...

przyczyniam się do koszmarnej przyszłości, gdzie ludzi zastąpią automaty, a #samotność stanie się problemem dotyczącym każdego i zawsze.

Koszmar zaczyna się niepozornie. Jest ułatwienie w sklepie, bo gdy zwykłe kasy są zajęte, a automatyczna jest wolna, można skorzystać i się jest parę minut do przodu. Ale w dłuższej perspektywie to równia pochyła. Właściciele sklepów, firm, urzędów będą coraz powszechniej rezygnować z ludzi przy kasach, w okienkach itp., bo to przecież im się opłaca. I - rzekomo - klientowi również (bo niby będzie mniej płacił za produkt - 💩 prawda).

Nie chcę tego koszmaru.
