Elon Musk blames the Anti-Defamation League for the catastrophic decline of the platform formerly known as Twitter, but the fault is entirely his own for willfully flooding it with Nazis. Billionaires like him promote anti-Semitism in hopes of distracting angry people from their true enemies—the ruling class itself and the capitalist system that gives a few people so much power.

It has been nice to see activity picking up on other platforms this past week. What we knew as Twitter is unsalvagable. Let it die.

A wow prescient quote from 1865 that will resonate with my anti-reductionist friends

“Physiologist and physicians must never forget that a living being is an organism with its own individuality. Since physicists and chemists cannot take their stand outside the universe, they study bodies and phenomena in themselves and separately, without necessarily having to connect them with nature as whole. But physiologists, finding themselves, on the contrary, outside the animal organism which they see as a whole, must take account of the harmony of the whole, even while trying to get inside, so as to understand the mechanism of its every part. The result is that physicists and chemists can reject all idea of the final causes for the facts that they observe; while physiologists are inclined to acknowledge a harmonious and pre-established unity in an organized body, all of whose partial actions are interdependent and mutually generative. We really must learn, then, that if we break up a living organism by isolating its different parts, it is only for the sake of ease in experimental analysis, and by no means in order to conceive them separately. Indeed, when we wish to ascribe to a physiological quality its value and true significance, we must always refer to this whole, and draw conclusions only to its effects in the whole.”

Stumbled upon via this excellent take about homestasis (and how it's anti-reductionistic)

Ciekawostka na dziś: w latach 80-tych i 90-tych w Polsce produkowano mikroprocesory. A dokładniej jeden model mikroprocesora, czyli MCY7880.

Była to polska wersja popularnego w tamtych czasach 8-bitowego czipa Intel 8080.

she's sleeping so deeply now 😄

"Its estimated that spam consumes more than 33 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity every year, the same amount as 2.4 million homes. It also produces the same amount of green house gas(GHG) emissions as 3.1 million passenger cars."

Weird because I've known for a few years watching trends at festivals and those traveling that many more women carry men's wallets. They're smaller take up no room in a bag and they fit into a pocket so much easier. On average they're cheaper too.

The other trend I've seen is more women carrying what would've been called a man's purse some years back. Full of pockets and more about functionality than looks. Hell, I carry one.

Thinking about the wallet company that announced that "at least 30% of our products are bought as gifts." they got this number by assuming that all customers with feminine names were women buying the wallet for a husband, boyfriend or father.

They were totally unaware of their female customers and somehow actively invested in not discovering those customers existed.

A thought for #solarpunk #ttrpg / #rpg #gameDesign :

If you want to tell stories of a world where violence isn't a default conflict resolution option, don't reward it.

Don't make extra mechanics for combat, use the same kind of conflict resolution as for political debates or fighting forest fires.

If someone chooses violence, they could feel empty, feeling that they failed to find another way.

#ironsworn #starforged does this well: no XP for combat, only for quests, exploration and bonds.

Looks like fire :) worked in the garden today and discovered these, what are they even? #Funghi #Mosstodon #Mushtodon

Otwieram sporo przeterminowanego pleśniaka. Jebie jak w niebie.

Gównoposting (z ciekawymi zbiegami okoliczności)

Jestem agentem zagłady.

Ilekroć jadę do Wrocławia, opóźniam pociągi.

Yesterday I stopped work on the Mountain Valley Pipeline. I locked to the drill, 79-year-old Marty Zinn locked to part of the track (she's under the umbrella), & four others were in foot locks blocking the entrance.

Marty summed up why we're doing this beautifully: "I have lived a long life at almost 80 years old; I want to help ensure that young people today and in the future have a chance to live a life too, and one that is worth living. I am acting for them. That is why I came to stop the Mountain Valley Pipeline. Its sole purpose is to transport fracked natural gas mostly for export to foreign countries and make a lot of money for fossil fuel corporations and their owners—meanwhile further endangering the survival of all we know."

These elders are such an inspiration to me, as are all activists working to protect their land and water. The Greenbrier River, which the drill I was sitting on will travel underneath, is the longest undammed river in the eastern US.

This pipeline endangers hundreds of waterways, and would be responsible for 90 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. We cannot build this pipeline.
Listen to the science. Listen to your elders.

Easy to make, tastes great. Quite fool-proof – I once made it without cilantro, and it was still pretty good. Alom Shaha's @alomshaha dal. alomshaha.com/cheap-easy-quick
