Not often do you get to design an entire reactor protection system from scratch. Suddenly all those lengthy discussions with the ASEA gurus make sense. I feel like the last dinosaur of the 1970s relay logic.

Odwiedziły nas dzisiaj takie sarenki, poskubały jabłka, jedna pokazała mi język i poszły dalej. Warto było nie spać dla takiego spotkania.

When I visited the #Tallinn #Christmas market on Sunday, I saw something I had never seen - #juustupats. I had to google what that is. That's like strings of cheese that have been braided. It can be put in a soup like croutons or on the bread like basic #cheese. #suomimastodon #food

"We'll always need big diesel trucks in our cities to deliver freight. It's just reality."

Not so fast. The electric "Cargo Tram" has long been a fixture in many cities in #Europe

TramFret employs old trams to shuttle groceries around in the city of Saint-Etienne, #France.

@JasonThorne and the bed size is still larger than that of a Cybertruck, which is supposed to be an offroad vehicle.

Funny.

Apparently a Polish producer of passenger trains, Newag, added some interesting stuff to the trains' software which made it impossible to start them after servicing by anyone other than the producer. Compared to them, John Deere are amateurs. So far the writeup is in Polish, but I guess this one will blow up quickly.

I can finally reveal some research I've been involved with over the past year or so.

We (@redford, @mrtick and I) have reverse engineered the PLC code of NEWAG Impuls EMUs. These trains were locking up for arbitrary reasons after being serviced at third-party workshops. The manufacturer argued that this was because of malpractice by these workshops, and that they should be serviced by them instead of third parti

@neil I also feel there is a big problem with people scammed by doing (or trying to do) something they feel embarrassed about. The scams will happen and won’t be reported.

I have similar concerns about parental control software. So many of the offerings involve location tracking and similar - it's not *right* for a parent to give up their child's privacy like that.

The middle ground I settled on, of all things, was Microsoft Family Safety - they *can* do location tracking but it's off by default (and needs opting into on device).

But it still suffers from over/underblocking like everything else.

Rather than a rant about the political and environmental madness of the day - here's a flock of goldfinches resting in a tree in our garden.

There's a place in Germany named Illertissen. This means "the ferret boob" in Swedish. Act accordingly.

A great guide to degoogling by @stfn . I've been using many of those solutions for years.
