A new report confirms the immune escape of the BQ.1.1 variant, along with BA.4.6 & BA.2.75.2. The response to a BA.5 breakthrough infection reinforces benefit of the bivalent booster, broadening protection

"little is known"

RT @pskatz
There seems to be an increasing use of the justification for a paper being "little is known". Here is the appearance of this phrase in PubMed. It looks like we know less as time progresses. Little is known about why this trend has developed.

For toot.community users: consider becoming a patron of @jorijn on Patreon. Last month's server and maintenance costs were $616 a month, currently the patrons (including me) contribute $446. Jorijn has to deal with, er, everything – let's try and make sure he's not throwing money at it as well. (I like this place and hope it survives, too!)
A much better way to spend $8 than on ~some other websites~!

"Dysbiosis in the gut microbiota impacts several systemic diseases. One possible mechanism is the migration of perturbed intestinal immunocytes to extra-intestinal tissues. Combining the Kaede photoconvertible mouse model and single-cell genomics, we generated a detailed map of migratory trajectories from the colon, at baseline and during intestinal and extra-intestinal inflammation."

Blind Cat
This is Radar at the top of a 5-foot tall cat tree. He likes high places, even though he can’t see they are high. He still doesn’t want to fall! He climbs down the cat tree backwards because he can’t see where to jump.
Someday I will get a good pic or video, it is amazing and should be shared. Not having eyes doesn’t slow him down a bit!

Good article from the @eff -
"The fediverse is an evolving project, and it won’t solve all of the challenges that we’ve seen with big social media platforms. Like other distributed systems, it does have some drawbacks and complications. But a federated social media ecosystem represents some possible escape hatches from some of the more serious problems we have been experiencing in the centralized, platform social media world."

Mastodon pro tip. You can follow hashtags which is pretty damn amazing. If you feel like Home is a little empty, then follow some hashtags. Just click on one and click follow in the top right corner. (This may vary depending on your platform.)
