Today I'm thankful to Elon Musk for maliciously destroying the centralized public square that is Twitter, giving everyone a shining example why we should cap personal wealth to prevent abusive billionaires from undermining the public good, and an impetus to move to decentralized social media services like Mastodon (or whatever better thing comes along next).

The fact that Russia is choosing to use its expensive, dwindling and hard to replenish supplies of precision-guided missiles to degrade and destroy the Ukrainian energy grid is a very good indication that they are not able to do so with (cheaper) cyber attacks.

Yet another reminder of the practical limitations of offensive cyber, or, at least, the limitations of Russian ability to conduct strategic offensive cyber attacks

Introductory post: I'm an entomologist/evolutionary biologist that's interested in the evolution of Hymenoptera 🐝 🐜 , in particular gall inducing/ parasitic wasps. Currently I'm a Marie Curie fellow at the University of Edinburgh, using phylogenomics 🧬 , community ecology 💻 , and morphological taxonomy 🔬 to figure out who's who, and who eats who in tritrophic systems consisting of 🌹 -> 🌹gall wasps->their natural enemies.
