I am increasingly convinced that one of the main reasons Twitter hasn't fallen completely fallen apart with this sort of anti-human madness is that a large fraction of the remaining technology employees is on work visas and so they can't leave. With that in mind, it isn't unreasonable to think of current Twitter as a form of hostage-taking.
