One of the octagonal towers on Shawlands Cross Church. Designed by Miller and Black in the wonderfully named Perpendicular Gothic style, it was built in 1903. I particularly like the crown of gargoyles.

@thisismyglasgow As a random American, I've always wondered why it's Glasgow and not Glazgow.

@tedherman It's because the first part of the name comes from the Gaelic word Glas, which means Green.

@AllyD @tedherman Does that imply Glasgow could mean not Dear Green Place, as usually inferred, but instead Dear Grey Place??? 🤣🤣🤣

@thisismyglasgow @tedherman That shifting blue-green continuum underpins many household conflicts:
A: "Will you fetch the green thing?"
B: "What green thing?"
A: "That one, ya eedjit!"
B: "What d'ya mean?! That's blue!"
