@mimsical I feel your story reporting about large firms hiring inventors connects, somehow, to a history of conglomeration, increasing financialization, and other themes. Well done! (otoh there is that editorial, but of course you have nothing to do with that). I wonder if an inventor getting hired by big corp is the equivalent of a founder completing an exit - realization of a limited dream.

If "anathema" does not require a definite or indefinite article, I don't see why "anomaly" does.

I resisted, but all the talk about the coming of AGI and its threat to humanity, the thousand-signature open letter calling for a pause (questioned by some https://www.reddit.com/r/singularity/comments/125g8bq/open_letter_calling_for_pause_on_giant_ai/) -- so I signed up to try, on several of these experimental sites and tried to do something useful. The results have been very disappointing. The transformers are not connected to solvers that could help me be more productive. The technical problems I want to solve seem to lie more in the "shape rotator" camp than in the "wordcel" camp. That would not matter if what I was doing was some minor variation of existing code.

I tried to get Bard to work with a prompt based on an image, but found no way to give it the image. Bard told me to use the upload tab on the bard.ai website - which does not exist. I was able to make a prompt with a URL to an image, and this got a response. An incorrect response, but still a response.

There seems to be such consensus, on both sides, that "this time is different" (from other tech innovations). Remarkable.
