Warm tea and bananas while going through the (rather long) list of accounts waiting to be approved on SDF.

The Mighty Cluebat of Love and Banishment has not been used today, but I did limit a user who was posting borderline stuff.

Listening to Neil Young on the radio, lyrics seem appropriate for the current migration: "Don't let it bring you down, it's only castles burning, find someone who's turning and you will come around".

Anyway, how is your Sunday going folks?

Another application of the Mighty Cluebat of Love and Banishment.

So, yeah, you could say that a lot of people are looking at Mastodon right now.

This is like the 3rd screen out of 6 screens full of requests. Please be patient with us as we go through that list.

All right, a bit of an update right now on #SDF : it seems we have hit a glitch in our Mastodon instance, we have 90+ accounts pending, and a lot of applicants have been marked as 'suspended'.

The wonderful SDF technical team is definitely working hard behind the scene to make sure everyone has a great Mastodon experience, and the Mastodon moderation team is working hard to approve your applications.

Please bear with us, as this is really a huge influx of users.

🇬🇧 🇺🇸 2 more accounts suspended for advertising goods and services.

Let me repeat 1 more time: #SDF is a run by volunteers. If you are advertising here you are essentially abusing a free resource and you will be BANNED.

@ParadeGrotesque Do you think a warning in the instance's About page would help?

@coderCyclist

Yup.

But I also have the feeling a lot of these people don't really care. They simply use bots for mass registration. A lot of these accounts will post once or twice, be deleted and the owners will move on to the next one.

Follow

@ParadeGrotesque great for users to have volunteers willing to vet at bot scale. It isn't commonplace, I was on an instance (fsmi.social) where I couldn't even get my password reset (and they also had active spam accounts).
