For years I had such a hard time explaining to *anyone* why this ActivityPub spec we were working so hard on mattered

When you think about it Elon paid 44 billion just to advertise the importance of the fediverse, gotta give that guy some credit, real generous of him

@cwebber no as far as I'm always a supporter of these interconnecting indie social medias, i still believed activity pub is a crap protocol where it dies nothing better than RSS/mail combo. Even mastodon impelemntation doesn't follow the protocol exactly.

@chengdulittlea @cwebber you could have just scrolled on and not said anything. Why choose negativity?

@mhall119 @cwebber idk... I'm sorry about that. It's just this very protocol has been a constant headache to work with in development 😔

Maybe situation can get better when more libraries and stuff are around when more people using it and fix some inconsistency in the future. I'm looking forward to it but yeah... You got the idea

No offence, but belongs to Mastodon, not ActivityPub.

With the evident looseness of the spec, Mastodon might as well have evolved from or . Maybe AP can chalk up a win if there is a migration to or something else next, not until then.

After all, how much of Mastodon's ongoing adoption has to do with , which is the part of AP that seems to have interested non-Mastodon developers the most? AP may become worthy of a satisfactory victory lap, but not yet.
