So here we go. This is the problem with the #Fediverse. I have to move servers and I lose history. 👎 👎 If I can't rely on the core infrastructure, why should I invest here?
@Yonks with many servers federating judiciously, it doesn't make sense for posts or replies to be broadcasted; so, public posts only get sent to followers and to tagged accounts (who haven't blocked the sender). It is usual to open the starting post (in a separate browser window, if need be) to see all the replies.

@Yonks The posts from the offline server should still exist, at least in cache form, in the servers which saw those posts. Though its lifespan will be limited, I guess.
However, posts made from other servers will remain. Just that, if one tried to open the original thread from the offline server, it won't be there.
I think I encountered something similar before. The post the instance I was on that it cached was still intact, but the original instance of that post was no longer online.
@tetrislife Thank you for clearing this up!!
I will still hold the belief that this appears to be a challenge &/or drawback of this #Fediverse architecture. I obviously was interested enough to engage with this post. I would also like to see other people's thoughts on this topic without having to go through another step.
And what happens to this post when https://uiuxdev.social/ goes dark? Is this post gone forever?
