On the topic of #ForgeFed, is there any analysis of prior-art and why the decision was taken to ignored existing approaches and restart from scratch?

That seems a valid question.

If Forgefed isn't going to only/also be a "usable" UI for combining patches, how would it be an improvement over e-mailing patches?
