@Hyolobrika because I'm not a fan of pinging half a dozen people I don't know. I was replying to your post, so I kept you tagged in my reply. Why is it a problem if I don't tag these other people?
XMPP adoption and the Quicksy brand
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
Quicksy leverages the comfort of using phone numbers as an XMPP ID. Conversations et al supports the intended flexibility in choosing service providers.
Would it help #XMPP adoption if the #Quicksy brand was used for the latter purpose too? Rebrand Conversations to, say, Quicksy-Fedi?
1.a) most languages in India, including Hindi, derive from Sanskrit/Prakrit and hence share much of their vocabulary - even Chinese seems to have highly differentiated regional dialects, maybe no confused elites there
1.b) so, Hindi can't be Sanskrit-ized, since it is a Persian-ized variant of Sanskrit/Prakrit
2.a) Indian languages other than Hindi have remained almost completely safe from Persian-ization
2.b) so, it is a no-brainer that un-Persian-ized Hindi would suit most of India

Nice story. All fictional, or based on some factual sources? Even British sources would count if you can come up with them.
Its a pathetic joke to put the colonization tag on a post about the national language of the country being promoted. You seem to be a confused #Elite with all the spit and polish of pukka English, but there are others too in the country and they would know more about their mother tongue than you. Talking to them would have taught you that

@kev I guess many of us have some kind of server, even if it is just a rasPi. Is this somehow useful? I'd be more than happy to support fosstodon with my Pi(s).
@mike @kev I have never actually said it so, thank you both for this marvelous work, I have discovered an amazing number of things I wouldn't have found otherwise. I truly believe FOSS grows faster because of this platform, and it's all on you.
If you’re #newhere and on a small/solo instance, the usual tips to find people to follow won’t help as much. Hashtag searches will yield few or no results, and your local and federated timelines may be empty.
My solution was to stop looking for *people* to follow and look for *instances* hosting communities I’d like to be a part of. Then, I’d follow the admin of that instance, and they consistently signal boost people who interest me. In less than a day, I had a timeline that was active.
taken in context with the historical moment, nupedia-> wikipedia's rise in the early 2000s, as a time when people still mostly interacted with individual websites, people were introduced to Wikipedia, not meatball wiki. so as geocities morphed into myspace into Facebook, there was no alternative (but forums) to creating your own digital space. Because people did not see wikis as the infinitely malleable cultural space they are, we got social media
Please, if you are an open source maintainer, do not do this!
Not only is potential important informationed locked away and fragmented in this case, but you are also forcing people to register to another platform.
Also worst case, you are also having this part of information on some platform which is not made for documenting such stuff like Discord in this case.

"... for every time there's genuine outrage that you simply can't follow with humour you say, I'm going to invite you with that outrage into saying how do we change the system to actually meet those needs ... You invite them into a group in which they start co-creating an actual policy to solve their problem. And that works in a country of 23 million people..."

anything potentially to do with zero-shadow day happening across the globe this time of the year? i too felt pretty good for myself today :-)
"In other words, people like to engage in the act of solutioning as a socio-cultural phenomena pertaining to 'Silicon Valley Syndrome' moreso than as a legitimate way to find real-world problems to address. One of the first major criticisms of my own project that I described was 'am I engaging in a cultural solution-finding for the sake of it, or is there a legitimate opportunity to create something viable?'.”
Hi! mastodon.social is being slow right now, as far as I can tell because there's twice as many people using it at the same time as ever have; I'm working on making it go fast again, but in the meantime, do remember to invite people to joinmastodon.org instead of directly to mastodon.social. People don't have to be on the same server to follow you! Thanks!
@Seirdy shouldn't the criticism be directed at the corporates using misleading terms to cloak their claws? problematic stuff like systemd-as-implemented or secure-boot-as-implemented is tied to those names, FOSSbros or no FOSSbros - disassociating them from names would be giving warped, preconcieved notions.

The second you buy crypto on an exchange using real world currency, you've paired your cryptowallet with your bank account, ie. real identity.
In a sense, it is even less anonymous than a conventional bank, because everyone can see all transactions, and if your wallet gets pinned to you, I can now see every transaction you've ever made on the blockchain.

Among other actions to be taken, the scientists demand a speed limit on German highways as an easy and quick first step to save millions of litres of fuel and thus tons of GHG emissions ever year.
