Some online discussions imply that the factor of 8π is simply for the convenience not having to write it elsewhere. This is not the case: particle physicists take their 4π's seriously.

yes! and thank you for i am also reminded that i must not use the term energy-momentum tensor for (16) in my draft since by strict dimensional analysis (16) is dimensionless (without units) so i would rather use the term "source tensor" in the (1+1)-dimensionally reduced GR
