Power out across multiple cities for over 4 hours now. Status is still "Awaiting Dispatch." Remind me again why it's a good idea for publicly traded profit machines to be responsible for public utilities?
Anywhere from 40,000 to 140,000 households and businesses still without power today depending whose estimate you read. Nearby cities to the East had power restored overnight, but our power company estimates tomorrow at 10pm. Crews still awaiting dispatch.
And just because I'm feeling petty... What's really amazing is that #FirstEnergy is still allowed to have a monopoly over the power grid here after the shit they pulled in Ohio, and despite their incompetence.

@trinsec We had a thunderstorm yesterday.
@trinsec I don't know what the power company's problem is or why they're so much slower than their publicly owned counterpart to the East. They're not very forthcoming with information either so everything I'm hearing is just speculation, and that _really_ gets the cynical part of my brain going haha.

@trinsec Pretty typical for this time of year. Lots of wind, rain, and lightning for about half an hour then rain the rest of the day. Some trees came down but the city takes care of that and the roads were all back open this morning. At least it's not January, then I'd have a foot or two of snow to clean up too.
