@fredfp @JulienDelpierre Try searching with help of hashtags. The Fediverse relies heavily on hashtags, so if you want to be discovered, use hashtags on keywords in your posts.

@DMT That's such a weird thing to think about... ;) Cool though!

@MessengerFlats And I mistakenly thought I wasn't hungry anymore...

Cute doggos, by the way!

@s_gruppetta When one calls it a private toot, I have to think of a DM. Direct Message. So... can't be too sure.

@s_gruppetta Everybody else without markdown support will see some of the markdown adornments, which makes it still readable and still conveys the intent. And we see it in its pretty format here.

I know bold and italics will be shown with those asterisks around. Not sure about the rest.

Pleroma, Misskey, Mastodon Glitch, all microblogging servers which should be able to see markdown. There's more than just Mastodon. :)

@s_gruppetta Markdown is not a default Mastodon feature. Qoto has it, and the servers running the Mastodon Glitch Edition also knows markdown. Not sure about others.

Apps are usually made for default Mastodon... so I think most apps probably won't support it. Personally I prefer the mobile web interface, it's very mobile friendly.

@hilarybaumann Quite an adventure, but I'm sure this place'll be great for you! :)

@kendmiller Go to your notifications tab. See a symbol with 3 sliding switches on it? (horizontal lines with some squares in them). That's the options menu for configuring how your notifications should behave, it includes options for playing the sounds.

@hilarybaumann Yes. I'd actually recommend using the mobile web interface, it's already very mobile friendly.

See, Qoto is running on a modified Mastodon instance, with many extra features added (see here: qoto.org/about/more ).

The problem is that most apps are made for default Mastodon, without all those extra features. Some apps might not work that nicely, others will simply show the default options, you'd miss out on all those extras.

Seeing as you easily can pin a site to your home screen via your mobile's browser, and considering that the web interface has a very friendly mobile interface, I'd suggest you could try that out first.

@hilarybaumann Downloading? I'm actually talking about the mobile web interface, not an app. Unless you meant that? ;)

@wbic16 Just start sleeping at the right times, even if you're not tired yet. No phone or screens at least a half hour before zzz to give your brain a rest (go read a book or so). Preferably no (late) afternoon naps either, otherwise your sleep cycle gets wonky again.

@hilarybaumann There's a dark mode, Settings -> Preferences -> Check out the many themes this site has to offer.

I personally have gone for Mastodon Default Theme (Dark) myself.

Welcome to Qoto and the Fediverse!
