@Acer I did consider that it might be a joke coming from you, but considering that you did ask regularly about certain not-so-common English terms and phrases it could've been a legitimate question as well. :)

A few years ago I pulled a nice April Fool's prank at my job.

I'm working in some sort of IT support, so I posted a message in the newsletter to the whole building that anyone could swing by on that day to receive a wireless mouse for free.

I was handing out mouse-shaped candy. Hey, they were wireless! ;)

@stardust There are some other benefits too. Moving water, stays fresh, the pump has a filter below. So all you need to do is add some water over time, and have to wash/rinse less often because it won't get stale as quick. Could argue that this saves on water I suppose.

Well, for me it was still too much hassle as my cat prefers to drink from dirty puddles outdoors still anyway. ;)

It usually plays on the gullibility of the people. An example of one that got emailed to me a few times by various friends (of whom I expected better) would be something like:

The problem is that if you have to send it to 15 others, and they too to 15 others.. and.. and.. and.. And you would eventually receive it 1000 times because people ran out of people to send to..

Yeah, email was pretty slow back then with this exponentional rise. :P

The solution is just to ignore this bullshit.

I don't think I've got a physical chain letter (via snail mail). Too much hassle, I suppose. Email is a nice low threshold for any gullible person to press 'forward' on nowadays.

I can easily imagine some structures with physical chain letters that's more like a ponzi scheme too.

@stardust Drinking fountains. For some cats it helps to have moving water, as cats in general are very difficult drinkers.

Sometimes Reddit is outright amazing. There's this subreddit r/whatisthisthing where users post some unknown piece of stuff and ask the other Redditors to help them identify what it is...
