Answer: in both cases, one can hide a good part of their profile and their activity by tweaking the settings appropriately and by not giving in to threats of missing features in a passive-aggressive tone.

@tripu More important, corral them into a "Work Profile" (via "Shelter") or a second user. Both speaking about Android or better Custon-ROM. And import to that profile oder user only those contacts who have an accout by the respective data vampire. Thus the innocent clean contacts are protected. In German: pc-fluesterer.info/wordpress/v
