@neko @Noided @grumbulon @p @ruina Timeline status: improved

@DickForgetsHeRunsServices During the Trump administration they were roleplaying as shitlib superheroes. The site's the most soylent bullshit on the internet.
@mrsaturday @neko @DickForgetsHeRunsServices @Noided @grumbulon @ruina What's the deal with the Tony Stark thing? I didn't watch the capeshitters shit capes, I don't understand why Tony Stark would be popular with them. I mean, they hate Elon Musk and that guy is basically Elon Musk.

This reminds me of the Eunomia capeshit.
@p @mrsaturday @DickForgetsHeRunsServices @Noided @grumbulon @neko @ruina Idk he might just be famous solely for being a kool-aid drinker and a shill with terrible justifications for terrible opinions
@coyote @DickForgetsHeRunsServices @Noided @grumbulon @mrsaturday @neko @ruina Actually, this is kinda funny...this "democracy.town, a Mastodon instance focused on United States Politics, run by and for progressives" is at 116.203.144.134, an IP address owned by Hetzner Online GmbH (transferred from Bhari Airtel in 2018). The admin posts a lot of photos, but always stock photos or photos pulled from the newspaper article.

A completely anonymous admin pretending to be a superhero, running an instance dedicated to advancing left-wing politics in the US but hosted in Germany, it sure as hell smells like astroturfing to me.
@p @DickForgetsHeRunsServices @Noided @grumbulon @mrsaturday @neko @ruina well, I was convinced it was shareblue already, but the stock photo syndrome kinda seals the deal for me
@coyote @DickForgetsHeRunsServices @Noided @grumbulon @mrsaturday @neko @ruina

:terrywat: What the hell is Shareblue?
:terrythinking: Let's look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_American_Independent .

> In November 2015 the site was sold by Moko Social Media Limited, a multi-media platform developer, to Media Matters for America founder David Brock.

:terryew: Oh, it's a fuckin'--

> Brock terminated almost all of the previous staff and hired Peter Daou

:terryno: Shit, shit, that's the guy that's such a jagoff that I actually remember him. He said people only voted for Obama because they hate women, he threatened legal action over a Twitter account that parodied him.

> Brock said that the main goal of the website was to get presidential candidate Hillary Clinton elected.[11] During the primaries, the website endorsed Hillary Clinton and was critical of Bernie Sanders, posting stories like "With Bernie Sanders As Their Nominee, Democrats Can Kiss The Presidency Goodbye" and "Why does Bernie Sanders keep denigrating Hillary’s supporters?"

:terryshiggy:

I kind of wish I didn't know what this organization was.
@p @DickForgetsHeRunsServices @Noided @grumbulon @mrsaturday @neko @ruina They typically raid and astroturf chans, alt right sites like Gab and Parler, and other websites. There was a leaked document and a list of employees and their photos that got leaked. That was before 2016

I am very interested in hearing about this for reasons that should be obvious.

I don't think we've had anyone like that around here, but we had an ADL employee on here a while ago. His account went inactive, but he mentioned FSE in his blog as a site that probably wouldn't be around for very long. He was mostly just checking the place out; so far, the only people that have actually done anything resembling a raid are Gab shills that wanted to herd people to Gab.
@p @DickForgetsHeRunsServices @Noided @grumbulon @mrsaturday @neko @ruina ever been to 8/pol/ and compare it to 4/pol anywhere between 2015-2018, before the new 8chan came around and got mobbed by Qtards? You ever notice how there are sometimes more people that stand against pol's collective values at 4/pol/ as those who stand with them? Then you go to 8/pol/ and it's bad just in a totally different way? At 8/pol/ they had that old text in the sticky on forum spies, people were frequently encouraged to read it. Posting seige was common on 8/pol/, and on 4/pol/ it was seen as a diversion tactic and frowned upon. Then there was just the general quality of the posts at 4/pol/ versus 8/pol/, a lot more longform, high quality posts at 8/pol/ rather than 4/pol/. Also, lots more driveby posting at 4chan...
@coyote @p @DickForgetsHeRunsServices @Noided @grumbulon @neko @ruina 8/pol/ was dogshit. The retarded hotpockets banned anyone that was insufficiently wignat, turning the site into a purity spiral that gave us the fed op to end all fed ops, Tarrant. It was a great place where you had different ideologies up until that sperg Imkampfy made it 100% stormfags. I got banned once for posting that Trump wasn't the second coming of Mussolini and they were going to have to start planning on what to do when he would inevitably disappoint them.

/pol/'s age has come and gone, and it's where it belongs. Chan activism is fucking AIDS and they should have learned the lesson /b/ learned with Chanology, that even if you win, you lose in the end.
@mrsaturday @DickForgetsHeRunsServices @Noided @grumbulon @neko @p @ruina I heard it from an oldfag before "oldfag" was even a term, he said something to this effect:

"You stupid kids playing with politics, starting trouble in the wrong places, getting your fingers where they don't belong. You're fucking everything up, it was all for fun once and you ruined it, nothing mattered, everyone was equal, not anymore; you guys killed the fun and made it everything it was never supposed to be: serious. And do you have any idea what that will cause? What it will do? What you're attracting?"

I know but the comments about kids being a certain way reminded me of the manifesto document,.

@zleap @neko @DickForgetsHeRunsServices @p @mrsaturday @grumbulon @Noided @ruina I figured the recommendation was made regardless of who/what and more about the how/why, I will check this out
