So ya know how I understand I will never be able to do important things for our country but I do what I can in the way of spreading info and standing my ground at the local community level?
Well yesterday my husband was telling me about an instructor at ODU who was trying to soften the stigma of pedophilia. I immediately got on my phone & composed an email to that person. Instead of telling them they are a crappy person for not understanding the damage they are doing, I changed tactics..(cont)
...I I decided that it would be more impactful to pray for that person, my "enemy," as Jesus commanded us to do.
My email was simply a prayer that thanked Jesus for already working in this man's life to convert their heart. So I'm fulfilling my duty to pray for my enemy, I'm letting this person know that people are watching disapprovingly, and I've found a way to vent my frustration without getting myself angry.

I love this approach. I've struggled with how Christians can stay engaged in the fight and maintain their testimony. Too often I feel like the answer of many is to simply be passive. This is perfect.
if it were me, i'd blessed that know-it-all schmuck with a huge stick upside the head, THEN pray for forgiveness.

You have my respect for taking the high road. I have great difficulty as a survivor of molestation (pls no sympathy), still trying to find that high road. 💞
@Bleukitty
Jesus loves him. The rest of us think he's a dick. @watson @lroseboom @pamby1
@SomeLadyinVA @Bleukitty @watson @lroseboom Lol. I think a person's demeanor when you deal with someone one on one can be a little different as opposed to standing publicly fir a principle. You can offer redemption to someone through Jesus, but not an escape from consequences. You can be forgiven and still be in jail. Publicly, we show no mercy or acceptance for MAPS ideology AT ALL.
@pamby1 @SomeLadyinVA @Bleukitty @watson @lroseboom unpopular opinion?
most people are broken in some way or another. We live in a world filled with evil. People don't really chose what breaks them and how it affects them. Some people are broken kind of easily, others are tougher. we don't really know what makes the difference. in some cases small "saving graces" are present in the life of one person that mitigates the evil they endure and in some cases those are not present....
@pamby1 @SomeLadyinVA @Bleukitty @watson @lroseboom when sexuality is awakened too early in a child, it has negative effects. In some people who suffer sexual abuse it causes great confusion because some of it feels good. They may only know this as normal and don't understand the horror of it. Some of those kids get broken in such a way as they find themselves stuck as a prematurely awakened sexual child and thus find themselves attracted to children.
@pamby1 @SomeLadyinVA @Bleukitty @watson @lroseboom One person will act on that attraction. Another will recognize that it is wrong, inspite of their feelings and find the wherewithal to resist the temptation and work to express their love for kids in a healthy way. They may as yet be sexually arroused by kids for their whole life but never act on it. This in my opinion is heroic and those people should not be lumped in with the ones that perpetuate the evil....
@pamby1 @SomeLadyinVA @Bleukitty @watson @lroseboom I know somebody like this. He carefully regulates himself and keeps his interaction with kids to a minimum and controls himself when around them. He longs for the sexual attraction to go away and has spend scads of money on therapy, etc to try to make it so but to no avail. What would be the point of judging this guy the same as the ones who destroy kids lives.
end
@Phil @SomeLadyinVA @Bleukitty @watson @lroseboom The difference between the two is 1 acknowledged the crime and that it's unacceptable the other is celebrating the lifestyle and trying to worm it into normalcy. The second is what we need to show NO mercy or acceptance for. But, to be respectfully clear, I would NEVER let my child around that person EVEN IF they're reformed. That's just not a chance I'd be willing to take. And someone who truly understands that it's wrong would get that.
@pamby1 @SomeLadyinVA @Bleukitty @watson @lroseboom So how would you know if somebody was sexually attracted to kids if they never acted on it and never told anyone?
@pamby1 @Phil @SomeLadyinVA @Bleukitty @watson @lroseboom
There is a difference between knowing someone and trusting someone.
You need to trust people or in the case of child care, do the proper background checks on that person, including references.
