If foreigners are prohibited from being elected to the presidency, why the hell do we allow them in Congress?

@waronmorons

Maybe these US rules were written to stop anyone from England running for the presidency) post independency.

in which case said rules are rather outdated, as I don't think the UK has any interest in taking on ruling the US given we have enough problems running our own small island.

@zleap I can only speak for this side of the pond, but we have enough trouble getting loyalty from our US-born politicians. The last thing we need people like Ilhan Omar coming here, moving to a district full of other anti-American migrants, and getting elected to Congress (which writes our laws, authorizes war and in many ways steers the direction of the country more than the president).

From afar, it seems like the UK has it even worse than us in this department. Just look at London.

@waronmorons

Where I am in Devon it is not too bad, I see London as another world or rather a crime ridden cesspit.

Sure there are nice areas, but there are also lots of problems.

@waronmorons

I don't mean that in an offensive way, it just how it looks from my view point. Stabbings, shootings etc

@waronmorons Well most are British, but I think it is possible to move here and run for office to get elected.
