why does every public wifi here want my full name, email, nationality, country of residence, zip code and sometimes even interests

@fediverse not sure but our local library had a captive portal where you just agreed to some terms . Now it asks for e-mail, etc no idea why.
Thing about these things is, at a tech event if I want to connect a pi (no monitor) to wifi it is rather difficult to go via a captive portal that needs a web browser.
