I know Libertarians don't think that they're Fascists, because they think of Fascism as a form of Socialism which they oppose,

but,

the historical reality is that in America, Libertarianism and Fascism have been deeply intertwined since the 1930s. The America First movement, for instance.

It was shared opposition to the New Deal that drew them together, and is still what holds them together in the Cryptocurrency scene, since undoing New Deal financial regulation is that scene's primary goal.

Was AIC completely wrong in its opposition to WW2? I'm not sure. I think that war caused some major geopolicy disasters. Strategic bombing and nuclear annihilation perhaps the largest, but not by any means the only one.

But it's obvious that the AIC scene was linked to American businessmen who both hated the rise of Progressive economic regulation, and deeply admired the actually-existing German and Italian Fascists.

Those links have never gone away.

Wasn't the alternative to Hiroshima trying to invade Japan. Nagisaki was bombed to try and also force Japan to surrender. Not sure if Japan would have surrendered anyway once they had come to terms with Hiroshima.

Given the loyalty to the emperor any invasion may have resulted in the loss of 100,000 allied lives. (or that is the numbers cited as being needed)

If nothing else those bombs taught us the true horror of atomic warfare.

One thing we can probably agree on is that all this is very complex.

But yes the war had long term effects,
