Has anyone on here looked at or have any direct wxperience using the sifive RISC V motherboards? Looking for a more powerful home machine and thinking about going this route instead of AMD or Intel.
@thatguyoverthere they're in preorder phase for the latest motherboard, planning on shipping late February. They are for hobbyists, they are not even as strong as a Raspberry Pi.

The raspberry Pi 4 with 8gb Ram looks very tempting.

@zleap @Moon yeah I love a pi, but more for small projects or home servers than a daily driver personally. I have been mulling over the frame.work laptop for a while, but I would love nothing more than to use a machine that is open source head to toe.

@thatguyoverthere @Moon

Yeah the pi still has closed firmware or something.

I think there are developments in that direction to produce open hardware, of course we then need people to port apps, software and operating systems to these platforms.

@Moon @thatguyoverthere If i understand things though the same PI CPU can access 16gb so it would be good to have a 16gb ram version.
