I'm tracking events in Kazakhstan with some people right now. Information that we have been able to find is pretty scarce, and of course bound up with any number of online propaganda campaigns. I have been seeing the looting and the seizure of weapons from the military and police, but the main factions are a bit hard to identify.

Does anyone here have a sense for what is happening there now or any contacts on the ground?

@tom_nomad Not sure, but sharing as someone here may be able to help.

The whole world seems to be going crazy, which is no wonder it seems that most of these issues are down to inequality.

@zleap
Thank you for boosting this forward! I appreciate it!

It definitely seems like the failure of price controls and the rapid inflation on prices for fuel have been the immediate driving force. But, as you said, I have the sense that wider dynamics of capitalist inequality, and its relation to the regime and the natural gas trade are very much in play here

@tom_nomad Iadd to that the failiure of the west to deploy covid vaccines around the world has caused a lot of problems too.

Thankfully the patent free vaccine may help to solve that, and get the rest of the world vaccinated.

Regardless of if you are pro- or anti vaccine everyone should have equal access to it.
