#FOSS is so cool. Posted a bug I was experiencing on one of our BigBlueButton instances on the Docker git repo for the project. Just got an email the maintainer has done a new release to address that problem - was in the process of writing up a pull request, because I fixed it, too, but he beat me to it! Virtuous cycles all over the place. If you're still using Zoom... consider Zoom:BigBlueButton as Twitter:Mastodon. https://bigbluebutton.org to find out more. DM me if you want to try ours.
I would recommend BBB too, one nice thing is once a room is set up the URL stays as it is, so you can set up a teaching room, post the link to all your class, and it is the same each lesson
But it has lots of great features and is designed by teachers for teaching.
@zleap yup - frankly, I'm appalled that no one in Aotearoa NZ's gov't even investigated using locally hosted BBB for schools and businesses during lockdown rather than paying through the nose (with $ & privacy) for Zoom. The NZOSS actually have a companion BBB service to this Mastodon, hosted here in NZ, available gratis to local businesses/education since the first Covid lockdown. It's a no-brainer.
@lightweight
On a positve note when people DO use BBB they don't seem to have a problem with it, so the need for training is a non issue, at least from a joining meeting view point.
