1. Florida teachers are being told to remove all books from their classroom libraries OR FACE FELONY PROSECUTION
The new policy is based on the premise that teachers are using books to "groom" students or indoctrinate them with leftist ideologies.

UPDATE: This is also happening in Duval County, FL.
A principal sent this note: "We are being asked to restrict classroom libraries...sadly you will need to remove student access...I will be the one with a felony if we are found in violation...I wish I was making this all up"
Keep in mind, teachers and principals can be charged with a THIRD DEGREE FELONY.
The Florida Department of Education just published a training reminding teachers of that.
You know what else is a third-degree felony in Florida?
MANSLAUGHTER
What is to stop teachers simply moving to another state where they can do their job without fear of being put in prison.
@zleap @juddlegum money, just like for so many other people. Not to mention several other states moving along the same path.
So what are the other states doing this? Lets see if fedi can share info on this, as we don't get news of this in the UK but it is important to know what is going on.
@zleap @juddlegum here’s a good article discussing which other states and how they’re going about it. Texas and Pennsylvania are two I’ve heard the most rumbling about so far https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2023/01/22/students-want-new-books-thanks-restrictions-librarians-cant-buy-them/
