Why is the Alec Baldwin story worthy of being in so many outlets and so many reposts? Certainly a tragedy, but there’s been at least one gun death a day every day since this happened, most under more chilling circumstances. Why are we so focused on this one?

Is it so that we can avoid paying attention to all the other deaths?
