Remember the concept of "management by walking around" that was all the rage back when I went to business school?

Now we get "management by tweeting around."

To me this suggests that management just don't care about their employees or lack the skills to communicate with people in different levels within the company. By interacting you learn so much about people, good stuff and sometimes if they are having concerns or have issues outside of work. The latter can sometimes be helped, so moving to flexible working if worried about picking kids up from school for example.

It is about seeing people as human beings rather than a number on a employee list.
