I think that is fine, to do that, people know (or should) know what it means.
I think they have to use cursive here in the UK now, and even punctuation / grammar are seen as important.
I guess people at the top of the education systems feel it is not needed in the Internet age.
That fails to take in to account we work globally, you may end up with 1/2 your team being in a country where this IS important, and you would be expected to communicate properly with them.
:)
Education has been neglected for so long, we are now trying to play catch up and teach kids stuff that we were not taught properly at school.
Is that the St Louis Arch in your profile Pic ?
Cool
I seem to remember under either Clinton or Obama there was No child left behind for the election, what has happened.
Problem is elections are for 4 years, education is for about 14 years, so you need a long term, cross party strategy, i guess so people get a decent K-12 education and one that is consistent, sure you do need to modify the curriculum to keep up but set high standards of teaching / learning support across the country.
Ah, that was it, I guess since George Bush Junior we have had Obama and then Trump so no consistent policy and no bipartisan collaboration to fix things long term.

I think it means cross party consensus, i haver heard it mentioned on the news in relation to US politics, but yes, politics is so polarised then that is something that is very unlikely to happen, in a lot of cases.
Same here about the UK system.
@That_One_Guy @zleap @reay It has absolutely nothing to do with teaching punctuation, lol. Kids know what periods are for. They just don’t use them at the end of text messages. It’s a cultural convention
@peterbutler
I'm glad to hear all the schools are still teaching it.
I wouldn't really know, the only kid I text message is my 11-year-old daughter and she uses punctuation with me.
Like I said earlier, call me old school, all the millennials at work do. 😉
@zleap @reay
@That_One_Guy @zleap @reay Interesting. Does she text with her friends of that age? I’d be curious if she uses periods at the end.
I also have an 11-year-old and she and all her friends (as well as my 14-year-old and her friends) confirmed no one their age uses periods. I was totally blind to this forever so I was gobsmacked but it seems real, at least in our community
@peterbutler
I took a peek with her permission and she uses punctuation with me and other family but it's a mixed bag with kids her age. Emojis seem to have replaced most punctuation.
@zleap @reay
@zleap Never. Unless (as it would be written in a story, for instance, those old writer habits coming into play) it was meant in the literary sense of implying there’s something being alluded to that isn’t being explicitly stated.
It wouldn’t even occur to me to leave ellipses at the end of a text other than the above or suggesting I was going to continue writing myself. Never heard of it or seen it used as an invitation for the other person to then reply.
@zleap
This is how I've always done it.
