According to the Daily Mail, President trump has threatened 'death and destruction' if he is indited,
So my comment here is, if this intimidation results in charges being dropped, the message this sends is that you can be guilty or innocent, threaten retaliation and have charges dropped.
The US legal system, I assue is similar to the UK, innocent till proven guilty, therefore you appear before a judge & jury, they hear the prosecution and defense arguments, the judge sums up, jury deliberates, and tells the court their decision.
Even if he is charged he may be found innocent or guilty by the court,
if Trump is making these threats, he may find himself charged with inciting rioting or other behaviour, or being held accountable for any damage, injury or death caused, so he could end up in more trouble, then he is facing for paying hush money, If he is at some point indited for inciting the jan6 insurrection, his own rethoric showing here, could aid the prosecutions argument that trumps very nature is dangerous.
Does Trump not see he could be digging a hole, which he may not be able to get out of.?
That makes sense, just worrying from the outside, the fact the US will currently allow him to run, and people will vote for him is rather terrifing, especially given what is going on with Russia, Ukraine, China and other countries.

So in some ways if something kicks off it is the followers who cause the death and desctruction who need to be charged and hit will the full force of the law, perhaps a min life term in prison.
They could argue they will just doing what Trump told them to do.
Having watched the documentry seires about the Nazis and the final solution, this is the same argument used by those working in the concentration camps to justify mass murder, they followed the orders of their leaders and because they came from the top, those orders were justified. This,of course did not help them in the post war trials.
@zleap Yes, they could say he incited them, but the big difference is he has no legal ability to compel them to do these things. Not even as president, but especial now. They don't work for him, they weren't military officers he could command. He wouldn't even be in a position to punish them if they resisted him. But just like with Hitler, It's a symbiotic relationship. They boost his ego, he makes them feel special. He leads them, but they also tell him where/ how they expect to be lead.
He may have been able to command the military, but that didn't stop the military pointing out that they can't bomb Iranian cultural sites, This was threatened by Trump if Iran attacked ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Thankfully the military stood up to him and said they can't do that, which as quite right as no one of the cultural / historial sites are of military value so why would the US seek to destroy them.
@zleap he is just trying to kick the can down the road far enough so he can attempt another run at the White House or at least look like enough of a threat to DeSantis that he makes a deal to pardon him if he drops out of the running...
Given what DeSantis is doing, he is not much better than Trump. Main difference is that Trump has a bigger mouth.

@zleap No, he doesn't. He's only able to think of the immediate moment. Once you realise he's a narcissist, his behaviour makes perfect sense. It really doesn't matter what he thinks or what he's planning / what his agenda is, because he doesn't have an agenda, he is not capable of planning, and he doesn't think much. Everything he does is about feeding his ego *in the moment*. He needs constant external validation because he's a deeply wounded soul.
