#OtD 13 Apr 1916 Glasgow Corporation introduced a law restricting the right of free assembly. From 1922 the law started being enforced to prevent working class & radical meetings on Glasgow Green. Maybe back in 1922, the firstr world war, was still fresh and raw in peoples memories, people died to keep freedom, so perhaps this was a big factor in why the riots started too.
Fast forward to 2923, we take our freedom for granted, not imagining it could be taken away from us, we are complacent, as two world wars has failed to do this, so the GOP and others are trying a different tactic, eb away at freedoms slowly but surely, filling our news, social threads with (mis)information so we don't notice what is going on, and ensure the education system does not encourage critical thinking and questioning.
