On the ballot paper here in local elections there is often only 2 parties and no independents ever. Its LibDems Vs Tories. In GEs Labour do often field what they call a 'paper candidate- ie no canvassing, no campaigning etc just a name on the ballot paper expected to lose badly. Only elections any other party appears is the Police Commissioner elections and we never have any independents these days. I'm in the Romsey/Southampton area. Its a bit of a democracy desert.
We have the same choices here in Torbay, LibDeb or Conservative
