Some distributions have got the User Interface / experience down to a fine art, they have listened, learned and got it right. You would think, by now given we are using free software other distributions could take the best of what really works and apply to other distributions, so there is a common upgrade path to newer versions.
I am not suggesting all distros should look the same but there are certain aspects of the user experience that need some degree of consistency.
