As much as I'd like The Next Place to be Mastodon, I'd be fine with Bluesky too.

Anything to get us off this hellscape of a platform. The Musk conspiracy theory stuff around a mass shooting is some of the most loathsomely reckless and irresponsible behavior I've ever seen.

I really wish the King of Mastodon or whatever his title is had moved to create a universal quote tweet-replicating feature in time to make the platform viable for a Twitter exodus.

But it is what it is.

I'm glad Bluesky has decentralization potential as a protocol, at least.

At the same time, it's a lesson in the kind of purity cussedness that can thwart mass adoption of a promising platform.

Power users there were so determined to be Not Twitter that this space missed an incredible chance to build a noncorporate mass social media network.

Bluesky is just bluesky, Masttodon is part of the Fediverse, a much wider network of services, from writing, bogging, book reviews, video sharing, and other services that are all designed to integrate thanks to ActivityPub

You can follow me on peertube from here, and if post (and share) a video from peertube, it federates here too, you can comment from mastodom (or other service) and I can see that comment from either here or peertube. (I think anyway)

Hopefully people will see the bigger picture.
